Dr. Stephen Johnson is a native Duluthian with a strong commitment to community involvement. He has a long history of volunteering both professionally and with a diverse number of local civic groups and events. Building connections with his patients and within his community is his favorite part of working as a dentist.
Dr. Johnson attended Dartmouth College, graduating Magna cum laude with High Distinction History Honors and Citation for Outstanding Work in Physics in 1975. During this time he was involved on-campus as well, playing on the hockey team and belonging to Chi Heorot Fraternity. Dr. Johnson then received his DDS from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1979. He began his career in dentistry as a Captain with the United States Air Force base in Duluth, MN in 1979. In 1982 he started his private practice, which he continued until joining Dr. Kyle Hammer and Port City Dental in 2019.
Dr. Johnson is married to his wife, Laurie. They have two children, Eric and Christopher, and four grandchildren. Outside of work he enjoys the arts, golf, fishing, traveling, and watching both collegiate and professional sports.
